Rolls Royce

Rolls Royce

The project:

The brief for this project was to replace the existing flue systems at Rolls Royce in Solihull.

The system consisted of 5 No Remeha Gas 610 condensing boilers, 3 No boilers connected to a common flue system and 2 No boilers having individual flue system. The flue manifold that connected the two halves of the boiler together (Gas310’s) had started to corrode.

After a site survey with our engineer, it was identified that each boiler should have been fitted with a drain point straight above the spigot to stop condensation running into the boiler, these were not fitted. The flue legs had a few water marks on them and one of the drain points at the end of the header was starting to corrode. The main headers looked in good condition on the outside and had been installed with the correct slope.

Chimney & Canopy Systems Ltd supplied and installed a new boiler flue manifold from Remeha and a drain point above the flue spigot. We removed the vertical flue leg, cleaned the joints and re-sealed them.

Whilst the flue was removed, we checked the inside of the flue header and reported on the condition. We also replaced the corroded drain with new and connected new drain pipework from the drain points.

Single wall flue system was used which is manufactured to BS EN1856-1 and constructed from AISI 316L fully welded liner which is suitable for negative or positive pressure applications and condensing and non-condensing appliances.
